GAME plans are a great strategy to teach students to use. GAME plans can be used in any content area and are very user friendly. In my district we use Quality Data Notebooks for students to track their success throughout the year. I would like to use the GAME plan to guide students with their data tracking. Using their notebooks they'd easily be able to set goals, analyze their plan, measure progress, and evaluate their success. I think that students would be able to use this process with guidance at first and independently as the year progressed.
As for my GAME plan, I plan to pick up in the fall and proceed once I have all the materials that I will need. Hopefully both my students' GAME Plans and mine will go smoothly next school year!

It sounds like the GAME plan will work well with the Quality Data Notebooks that your district is already using. Do you think you would share this with your fellow teachers, or would try using the GAME plan yourself first. I know when I implement new things I sometimes run into a few false starts, regroup, and then try again (which now that I have written it out is very similar to the GAME plan we've been talking about). I am hoping to have my students use a GAME plan the first quarter, and then share with my colleagues any successes and failures that I encountered.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the next school year! I hope you enjoy our summer first though.

Toby,
ReplyDeleteUnder normal circumstances I would most definitely share the GAME plan idea with my colleagues. However, next year my district is implementing a new balanced literacy framework, new writing program, and new math program. On top of which my school is implementing a new character education program. I fear that my colleagues (and I) will be too overwhelmed. I don't think that the GAME plans will be much more to worry about, but for some it may be. Have a wonderful summer!
